What is a Doula?

A doula is a trained professional who provides emotional, physical, and informational support to women before, during, and after childbirth. Unlike medical professionals, doulas focus solely on your well-being, offering continuous guidance to help you feel empowered, calm, and confident throughout your birthing experience. Whether you’re planning a natural birth, a medicated delivery, or a C-section, a doula’s role is to support your choices and create a positive, personalized birth experience.

What does a doula do during pregnancy, labor, and birth?

As your doula, I provide continuous emotional, physical, and educational support throughout your pregnancy and birth. From offering comfort measures during labor—like massage, positioning, and breathing techniques—to guiding you through birth preparation during pregnancy, my role is to empower you at every step. My support is tailored to your needs, whether you’re birthing at home, in a hospital, or at a birthing center.

My approach is rooted in the Bradley Method, but I incorporate a wide range of influences to create a holistic, personalized experience. I provide not only physical and emotional support during labor but also educational support throughout your pregnancy, helping you feel fully prepared for the birthing process. I focus on your overall well-being, combining scientific knowledge with holistic care to help you feel empowered and calm.

It’s ideal to hire a doula early in your pregnancy, around the second trimester, so we can build a strong relationship and prepare for your birth through prenatal visits. However, I’m happy to work with you at any stage of pregnancy. The earlier we connect, the more we can customize your support and prepare for labor together.

Yes! After your baby is born, I provide a postpartum visit to check on you and your baby, help with breastfeeding, and discuss your birth experience.
